5 Unique Wedding Venues in Tuscany

How to choose a truly unique villa in Tuscany for your dream destination wedding? I get asked this question a lot. My answer is to always choose the location that best appeals to you. If you need some inspiration, here are some locations I worked with that are sophisticated, luxurious, and spread authentic “Under the Tuscan Sun” spirit.

Villa Le Fontanelle

This gorgeous villa can boast a unique view of the Duomo and the whole historical center of Florence. It used to be one of the properties of the Medici family back in the XV century.

The villa guarantees the highest level of privacy. Besides the view, the chapel, the gardens and the swimming pool, this location’s main point of force are the owners who live there and will do everything they can to make you feel home away from home.

They researched every single color, furniture, and fabric in order to create a unique location, where nothing is left to chance, creating a dreamy environment where beauty, warmth, and coziness are everywhere.

Their attention to detail is astonishing and will certainly make the difference for your stay and ceremony.

The Villa has 18 finely decorated rooms, from an ex-Orangerie to an actual tower. The owners can organize all kinds of activities for you, from city tours to yoga and cooking classes.

Tenuta Il Palagio

Il Palagio is located above the picturesque Tuscan town of Figline Valdarno. It has been the summer home for Sting’s family for the last twenty years.

The villa, its guesthouses, vineyards and olive groves have all been lovingly restored by Sting and Trudie, and are now a vibrant organic farm and vineyard.

You have a chance to experience this spectacular and unique location, that will make you live a once-in-a-lifetime experience, will host the most special of occasions, or will simply make you relax and enjoy Tuscany and the amazing views and joys of an Italian countryside.

Il Palagio produces their own wine, olive oil and honey. Sting’s presence and artistic essence is all over the place, from the family’s photos and memories, to the pizza oven and the stunning fountain that once belonged to Sophia Lauren near the lemon garden.

The villa itself has 9 double rooms, but you can also enjoy refined guesthouses nearby that belong to Il Palagio.

From the pool, to the oversized chess set, and Tuscan sunsets over the rolling hills, everything in this place will delight you and make you experience unique and sophisticated.

Il Borro

The sumptuously elegant Dimora Il Borro that belongs to the Ferragamo’s family is located above a small medieval village. The historic villa, built-in 1854, belonged to Duke Amedeo d’Aosta and Ferruccio Ferragamo bought it in 1993.

It is an exclusive location with 10 double bedrooms that can host meetings and events. It has a dining room, a study, a heated indoor swimming pool, a gym, a billiard room and even a sauna.

Each suite has its own unique features. The villa’s staff will ensure exclusive, highly personalized service.

For example, il Borro gives you a unique opportunity to rent the whole medieval village with an authentic Middle Ages church for your wedding ceremony! It can accommodate up to 191 people staying for a minimum of 2-3 days.

Another particularity of the Borro is one of the first mechanical nativity scenes, made by Don Pasquale Mencattini, that brought many tourists to the area back in the Sixties. Now this presepe (Italian for nativity scene) can be visited upon request.

Four Seasons Firenze

One of the most luxurious locations in this list is the “Four Seasons” hotel in Florence.

It consists of two buildings, the XVI century Conventino (ex-convent) and the XV century Palazzo della Gherardesca.

These buildings host 116 uniquely styled rooms and suites, where magnificent frescoes have been restored to their former glory. The Four Seasons offer includes a locally inspired Spa with a swimming pool, a lounge bar, a Trattoria Al Fresco and a Michelin star restaurant.

The hotel also hosts the city’s biggest private garden – a calm paradise of statues, fountains and centuries-old trees.

You can enjoy a Duomo view from this amazing location or rent a part of the hotel –  so you can enjoy your privacy and staff’s astonishing attention to detail.

Villa Mangiacane

Villa Mangiacane, a magnificent XVth century property built by the Machiavelli family, is located in the winemaking region of Chianti Classico.

Local legends claim it was decorated by one of the most famous Renaissance masters, Michelangelo. Located just 12 km south of Florence, this unique villa is set within 600 acres of flourishing vineyards and olive groves.

The main building – Palazzo Machiavelli, can host up to 22 people and the nearby Villa Mazzei up to 36 people.

From the centuries old frescoes, to their exquisite Shona sculptures from Zimbabwe – this location has both modern and Renaissance artwork to delight their guests during the stay.

It manages to tie together the combination of Italian, African and Indian inspiration, medieval and modern art, typical Tuscany and cosmopolitan interferences in a seamlessly harmonic way.

If your wedding happens to be in a period when wisteria blooms, you can enjoy the same delicate white and lilac tender yet sumptuous combination Veronica and Gabriel had during their wedding ceremony.

Bonus

Casa Cornacchi

Casa Cornacchi is a Tuscan country house located in a perfect landscape of golden, rolling hills, and country roads lined with lush and cypress trees. If you want an authentic Tuscan countryside experience, this is the place for you.

Casa Cornacchi has a rich cultural legacy of Renaissance art and history, but what makes it truly special are the friendly people running it and the hearty food experience.

Almost all the food here is locally produced by the owners, in their own vegetable garden. In their restaurant the focus is on food excellence and the most traditional genuine recipes.

This location can accommodate up to 56 people. While the location itself might not seem luxurious, the owners will definitely do their best to spoil you and make you feel at home with their attention to every small detail.

If you are lucky, you will even meet their pet fox, who comes to the place almost every evening to get dinner and visit human friends.
